Midday Devotion: Amos 5:24

***This is a new feature, based on Wyatt's Biblical devotions presented on the Pray for the Hostages radio show***

But let justice roll on like a river,
righteousness like a never-failing stream!
Amos 5:24

As we pray to the Lord and as we lift up who are captive, those who are held hostage, by men who work wickedness throughout this world, as we try to intercede on behalf of these poor people who have been taken, taken from their homes and their families and their comforts, and held in such mean state, we have to remember that judgment comes from the Lord, and righteousness springs forth from Him. And there we must pray that His judgment and His righteousness will reign supreme on this Earth, so that His Will will be done, on Earth as it is in Heaven; so that those who are wicked, those who work such evil in the world will no longer be able to hold those who are in need, or those who are weaker than them or those who they capture by surprise, and then ransom them off, trading flesh as if it were nothing more than something which they can have for a monetary gain; trading flesh for power and the deep sense of abiding slavery which they find themselves bound to.

Trust therefore in the judgment and the righteousness of the Lord, in all things and through all things, knowing that His work and His Will will always bring good, will always bring mercy upon this Earth.
